Letters from our Canine Cohorts |
![]() | So far, Greta has adopted well in our household that includes 3 cats. In fact, she and one of our cats, Zack, have been seen in the same bed together. Greta is the hit of the neighborhood on her walks. We have an older gentlemen on the street and Greta makes sure Mr. Peeks pets her when they are out together. She has fit in well. She doesn't bark very much and doesn't seems to be destructive. She eats well and we try to make sure she has 4-5 potty runs a day. She loves to run back and forth between my wife and I. I say she's running "wind sprints" like a football player. My wife has really taken to Greta, and I told Rebecca if she did not find her the "BEST" home then I was coming to get her. She is very happy with us and her coat really shines. She loves to go outside and chase bugs. Thank you for letting us have Greta. Sincerely, |
| Linus is settling in just wonderfully. He slept on the foot of our bed last night just like he had been here for months. I think he likes being the only dog in the house. He is a snuggler and loves to be stroked. He was great in the car for the 10 hour ride. He spent 95% of the time sitting on our laps. He is just perfect. Neighbors came over to visit today and fell in love with him and he just took to them really well. He goes to the patio door when he needs to go out. We have discovered that we will need to do some leash training with him and he does not seem to know how to play so we are having fun teaching the finer points of being playful. We still have not heard a peep out of him (Bark) we are kind of curious to see what will be the first thing he barks at....??? So far not strangers, doorbell or knocks on the door??? All is well!!! Below is the first pic of Linus and my wife. He took to her immediately (and to me for that matter). We Love Linus...
Cheers, P.S. Notice that my wife and Linus have the same color hair...Perfect match LOL | ![]() |
![]() | Houdini is starting to settle in. I picked him up this morning and he just relaxed and laid his head on my shoulder as I rocked him like a baby. He loved it. He and Donner are getting along so well - taking turns chasing each other around - really funny. Donner and I always have our "quiet time" in the morning - after going outside we sit in bed and watch the news with my first cup of coffee. Today it was the 3 of us - one on each side with heads on my lap - so sweet. Yesterday went I went to work I let the dogs have the run of the house. I was a little worried all day but everything was fine when I got home. He doesn't attack the cats - just aggressively chases them. They are still safe downstairs - Houdini doesn't like the look of the steps either. Donner, Houdini and I took a long walk last night - about 2 1/2 miles. I was such a beautiful night - almost full moon - lots of stars. We walked down to the river (Beaver sits on a bluff overlooking the Ohio River). I don't know that the dogs appreciated the view but I certainly did. I'll keep in touch. If you guys ever get to the Pittsburgh area - look me up! Sandy |
| Today I had a Hallmark moment with Paeton (formerly Pickles) and Roen (formerly Robbie). It was the most precious thing when all of a sudden they started kissing each other and playfully wrestling with no growling or biting. Then they started chasing each other around like the rest of the world didn't matter. I got tears in my eyes because of two dogs that have been through so much individually and finally they have found genuine playmates in each other. I don't know whether they think they're boyfriend and girlfriend or brother and sister. Regardless, they have steadily (over the last two weeks since they've known each other) begun their friendship, and it climaxed today with this new friendly physical contact. Time has definitely helped. But it's funny because I took Paeton to the groomer's today and maybe they missed each other or maybe he liked the way she smelled pretty afterwards. Who knows, right? Whatever the reason or combination of reasons, I can't tell you how happy we are. And I hope this makes your days special as well to know that you placed these little gifts in a home that is really working. Take care of yourselves and wish us continued love between these two. ![]() | Katy did very well yesterday. She loved everyone here at work with the exception of my co-worker's Pug that is blind and deaf. She growled at him from around the corner of my desk and then she barked at him. No harm done since Bubba couldn't hear or see her. :) Last evening, she ran circles around the living room and shook this fuzzy bone we have until I thought her head was going to pop off. It was quite funny. We let her sleep in bed with us last night and she acted like she owned the bed, laying on her back with her feet up in the air. She slept all night without any problems. I think she has transitioned really well. We decided to change her name. We are going to call her Lulu. I told my husband this sounded like a stripper name or something...Lulu LeRoy. Thanks again, |
| I just wanted to let you guys know that Troy is a perfect match to our little family. He and Sophie played so hard Saturday until I thought they were going to pass out from sheer exhaustion! I told her she looked like a country dog when they were finished wrestling in the backyard! She was filthy; needless to say they both had to have a bath. They were meeting one of their grandma’s for the 1st time. He is an awesome little man! He is very good natured, easy going, & pretty much potty trained. Thanks so much for letting me adopt him. I will be in touch. | ![]() |
![]() | Update on Queenie-- She is doing just great!!! Adjusting very well. Sleeps with us all night long. Loves the back yard. Chases the crows and stands up on her back legs and barks. Rides very well in the car. She is playing a little bit with Hattie, loves to play chase. I took Monday off to be with them....With all the changes that have occurred in her little life, I would say she is coming along remarkably. We love her. Nancy |
