Nutrition
One of the first and most important decisions you will make regarding your dog is what type of food to feed him/her. The quality of your dog's food will affect his/her growth, mental development, energy level, and coat quality. |

I find Nutro Ultra to be the highest-quality puppy food I've found. It has no by-products and lots of all-natural ingredients like tomato pomace and salmon, and it's pretty inexpensive. My dogs loved the taste of it. If you want to know more about the benefits of Nutro products, you can always go down to PetSmart-- Nutro representatives are there almost every day to answer questions. |
| I currently feed my dogs Nutro Natural Choice with Chicken Meal, Rice, and Oatmeal for Sensitive Stomachs. Oatmeal is great for senstive systems because it's very easy on the tummy. It has made all the difference in my dogs' health! It also contains glucosamine, which strengthens joints-- a must-have for small dogs, like Jacques, who are prone to joint problems. | |
 | Percy and Jacques also eat AvoDerm Natural with Chicken Meal and Brown Rice, which contains avocado meal and rosemary extract. Avocados are rich in Vitamins A, C, and E, potassium, and the fatty acids needed to maintain your dog's coat and skin. Dogs need fruit too, and avocados are an excellent choice. Percy loves the taste of AvoDerm-- she actually prefers it to Nutro, which is really saying something. |
| Nutro has recently come out with a new dry food for both sensitive tummies and sensitive skin--it's Nutro Natural Choice with Herring Meal, Rice, and Potato. Potatoes, not commonly found in dog food, are high in Vitamin B and potassium. Percy and Jacques can't wait to try it! | |
| One thing you want to be certain of is that you neither overfeed nor underfeed your dogs. The image below will give you a good idea of what an underweight dog, an overweight dog, and an ideal weight dog look like. You can also click the image to view a feeding chart. |

 | Authority liver treats are the BEST treats I've found! Both my dogs love these so much they'd do anything to get one, which makes them perfect for training! They are also very soft and malleable, which makes it easy to hide pills in them in case your dog gets sick. I have hidden many a pill in an Authority liver treat for Jacques! |
| My dogs' favorite bones are called Nylabones Healthy Edibles Flavored Bones. You can buy them individually or in larger bags. (We go for the bags--my babies LOVE these things!) They come in different flavors like pork chop, sizzling bacon, and peanut butter. They also find a variety pack for dogs who like to mix things up. In addition, there are also eucalyptus-flavored bones that promote good breath! | |
